Welcome to the 2024 season at PHBA! I am incredibly excited and honored to serve as the new president.

Having grown up in the city of Pleasant Hill, I have fond memories of playing in PHBA. When my children were old enough to register, I couldn’t wait to share those same experiences with them. Before I knew it, I found myself on the board.

To me, PHBA is more than just a baseball association; it’s a community—a family. The positive coaching we instill, the memories our players will have for a lifetime, the friends and support that surround PHBA, are what truly make it like no other.

Youth sports have the power to shape young lives in profound ways, teaching invaluable lessons of teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship. But beyond the skills learned on the field, it is the sense of belonging and camaraderie that truly enriches the lives of our players.

As we all come together to celebrate our 66th Opening Day, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who contributes to the success of our association. Whether you are a board member, commissioner, coach, umpire, volunteer, parent, or supporter, your commitment to our community and its children is truly inspiring.

I’m thrilled to share what has been going on behind the scenes. We are implementing some fantastic additions to the league:

  • Firstly, I’m excited to announce that the league will now be utilizing GameChanger for scorekeeping. This mighty tool will not only streamline the process but also provide valuable insights, pitch counts, and statistics for coaches, players, and fans alike.
  • In addition, we will be launching our volunteer software this week, making it easier than ever to organize and coordinate volunteer efforts throughout the season. Your dedication to volunteering is what makes our league thrive, and this software will help us ensure that every task is filled, every volunteer is recognized, and your hours are recorded.
  • Lastly, I’m proud to share that we’ve installed brand new pitching mounds on the PO fields and at PHMS1! And we have new homerun fences for our PO fields this season. These upgrades will not only enhance the safety and quality of our facilities but also provide our players with an even better environment to showcase their skills and enjoy the game they love.

Together, let’s continue to create an environment where every child feels welcomed, valued, and supported. Let us nurture their love for the game and empower them to reach their full potential, both on and off the field.

Here’s to a fantastic season ahead!

Warm regards,

Melisa Barrett
