Commissioner Testimonial: Laura Bonelli

Leading up to and throughout the season, we will be featuring testimonials from some of our board members and commissioners, which we hope will inspire you to consider joining the board and/or as a commissioner.
This testimonial will feature Panthers co-commissioner, Laura Bonelli!
How long have you been a board member or commissioner at PHBA?
I am on my 3rd year. I started in the 2024 season as instructional baseball ⅚ commissioner before moving to the Panthers.
Do you currently have family members registered for the season and how long have they been playing/Did you used to have family members that played in PHBA and how long did they play?
Both my son and daughter play in the league. My son plays in National Baseball and has been playing since he was 4.
My daughter is on the Elite Panthers (year round) and has been in the league since she was 4.
What initially motivated you to join the board or as a commissioner for PHBA?
I grew up playing PHBA from when I was 6 to 14. I even played on the Summer Panthers team. I made some of my best friends and had the best memories playing and having my dad coach me. I want more families to experience the joy that I had and the joy it brings to my family today.
What have been some of the highlights/rewarding moments as part of the board/commissioners? What’s your favorite part about your responsibility in the board or as a commissioner?
I am really proud to see the league continue to grow. The effort put in by all the volunteers to make a great experience for the community.
I am also proud of the work that Marni and I have put in to develop the Panthers program. We have our first Panthers team going to the PGF nationals this summer!
What would you say to someone who is on the fence about joining the board/commissioners?
It is really rewarding to see the success we have by putting in a little time. It’s a great community to be a part of as well. We know how to work hard and have fun.
What’s your favorite event that PHBA hosts or attends either during the season or the offseason and why?
Opening day is my favorite day. You can feel the excitement from everyone!
If you were to step to the plate right now, what would be your walk-up song?
Confident – Demi Lovato
