Board Member Testimonial: Jian Clamor

Leading up to and throughout the season, we will be featuring testimonials from some of our board members and commissioners, which we hope will inspire you to consider joining the board and/or as a commissioner.
This testimonial will feature board member, Jian Clamor (Newsletter, Social Media, & Website)!
How long have you been a board member or commissioner at PHBA?
I’ve been a board member since mid-2022, so about 3 and a half years now.
Do you currently have family members registered for the season and how long have they been playing/Did you used to have family members that played in PHBA and how long did they play?
Yes, my younger brother played for 3 seasons from 2022-2024.
What initially motivated you to join the board or as a commissioner for PHBA?
What initially motivated me to join the board is gaining experience in the communication field. I joined while I was pursuing my Bachelor’s in communication from UC Davis. Despite graduating already, I am eager to continue my responsibilities with the board and the league. Another motivating factor is helping out the community with the sport that I love, baseball!
What have been some of the highlights/rewarding moments as part of the board/commissioners? What’s your favorite part about your responsibility in the board or as a commissioner?
A highlight of being a board member is knowing that you are making a positive impact in the community. No matter what skill you bring in, you will bring a positive impact to the community.
My favorite part about my responsibilities is seeing the reach of PHBA’s communication channels. Knowing that most people open the newsletter, see the social media posts, and utilize the website means they’re being informed of what’s in the loop.
What would you say to someone who is on the fence about joining the board/commissioners?
Come and join us! It’s a great experience where you will learn a lot and meet outstanding people! If you’re like me, who wants experience, this is a great hands-on opportunity to showcase your skills or hone and improve on certain skills.
Lastly, don’t be intimidated to join if you’re young, old, have no/little experience, have too much experience, have a lot of children in the league or no children at all. If you are in it to help and assist, we want you and that’s all that matters!
What’s your favorite event that PHBA hosts or attends either during the season or the offseason and why?
My favorite event is Opening Day! Seeing all the teams walk in the parade and all the teams out in the fields throughout the day is what it’s all about! Also, all the hard work that my fellow board/commissioners put into organizing an event like this is rewarding!
If you were to step to the plate right now, what would be your walk-up song?
One More Time – Daft Punk
