Leading up to and throughout the season, we will be featuring testimonials from some of our board members and commissioners, which we hope will inspire you to consider joining the board and/or as a commissioner.

This testimonial will feature Baseball American commissioner, Alex Leaf!

How long have you been a board member or commissioner at PHBA?

Two years.

Do you currently have family members registered for the season and how long have they been playing/Did you used to have family members that played in PHBA and how long did they play?

My daughter is in her seventh year with the league, while my son retired after three years.

What initially motivated you to join the board or as a commissioner for PHBA?

PHBA is something we should all be proud of. If you enjoy serving your community there is nothing as fun or rewarding as being part of this league.

What have been some of the highlights/rewarding moments as part of the board/commissioners? What’s your favorite part about your responsibility in the board or as a commissioner?

Seeing the 22 instructional teams in my division parade down Patterson on Opening Day last year.

What would you say to someone who is on the fence about joining the board/commissioners?

Just do it. You’ll have to make some space in your life, but it’s worth it. We need you.

What’s your favorite event that PHBA hosts or attends either during the season or the offseason and why?

Little League Day with the Giants. Take the ferry in, trot around the field, then look in amazement as PHBA takes up two full bleacher sections!

If you were to step to the plate right now, what would be your walk-up song?

The Payback – James Brown
