Blue Crew Requests

The Blue Crew understands the importance of giving our new and returning umpires a chance to dust off the cobwebs before each season. We encourage all teams to take advantage of the pre-season to condition the player and umpire for competitive play and rigors of the season. Additionally, given the demand for umpires all year round, the PHBA Blue Crew has created a system to provide seasoned umpires all year round for any travel teams with a priority given to Hawks and Panthers.

While the Blue Crew loves to umpire throughout the season, we must recognize that umpiring does take us away from our own personal lives. The Blue Crew has developed fair rates to provide officiation throughout the year. The rate sheet below applies to all travel teams only.

Pre-Season House Scrimmages

Games are open to all levels who have completed field training giving new and returning umpires the opportunities to dust off the cobwebs and get a feeling for the game before the season starts.

Panthers / Hawks Scrimmages

Games are open to tournament-qualified umpires selected by the ULT for higher level of play and officiation of rules. The Blue Crew partners with the PHBA Travel Teams to provide a high quality of officiation to prepare their team for the rigors and high-level competition of tournaments.

Travel Team Scrimmages & Games

While PHBA is an all-volunteer league, the Blue Crew is often called upon to cover games outside of the PHBA realm, more so than ever with the shortage of umpires. The ULT does its best to provide umpire coverage; however, our priority will always be PHBA games. These games are open to tournament-qualified umpires selected by the ULT for higher level of play and officiation of rules. All umpires must present the highest level of officiation as they are representing the PHBA Blue Crew.

House Scrimmages

Hawks / Panthers Scrimmages

Given the demand for umpires all year round, the PHBA Blue Crew has created a system to provide seasoned umpires all year round for Hawks and Panthers. While the Blue Crew loves to umpire throughout the season, we must recognize that umpiring does take us away from our own personal lives. The Blue Crew has developed fair rates to provide officiation throughout the year. The rate sheet applies to all travel teams only.

Only tournament-qualifed umpires rated L5+ may sign up for paid travel games / scrimmages. Please contact a member of the ULT if you are interested.

Non-PHBA Travel Leagues / Scrimmages (EBBC)

The Blue Crew also supports leagues and teams struggling for umpire coverage. These games are not affiliated with PHBA in any manner. Umpires should not wear PHBA-branded uniforms with the exception of EBBC.

Only tournament-qualifed umpires rated L6+ may sign up for games / scrimmages outside of the PHBA League. Please contact a member of the ULT if you are interested.
