Player Registration
2026 Player Registration is open!
League Program & Divisions
PHBA has developed a program to introduce kids as young as 3.5-4 years old to baseball and softball by teaching them the fundamentals of throwing, hitting and base running in a relaxed and fun environment. The league introduced specific house rules within each division to eliminate some complexity of the game in order to focus on building the necessary skills and critical game thinking of our players.
As players progress through the divisions, the goal is to continue expanding on those fundamentals and introduce the more complex rules and nuances of each sport in an organized approach. As the kids get to the more competitive levels of play, they get closer to playing the “real thing.” Once they reach the Western division, they are playing full-on baseball and softball. Most importantly, they will have learned much in the way of sportsmanship, leadership, character, honesty, loyalty, courage and mutual respect.
You can find the key aspects of each division in the table on the right. Please contact the league if you have any questions.

Player Registration FAQs
These are questions that we frequently receive regarding player registration. Please take a moment to review. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact us.
REQUEST FOR PLAYERS ON SAME TEAM
Question:
I would like my player to be paired up with a friend/buddy on the same team, how can I request for both players to be on the same team?
Answer:
PHBA prioritizes making fair, safe, and fun teams for all players, which means we cannot guarantee fulfilling all of the many buddy requests we receive. The best way to ensure your child gets on a team with a friend is to Manage/Coach with your child's friend's parent or to Sponsor a team.
All roster requests are at the discretion of the Division Commissioner in conjunction with the Head Commissioner. You can find their contact information here.
REQUEST FOR PLAYER TO PLAY UP A DIVISION
Question:
I would like to request to have my player play a higher division than their current division due to their skill level.
Answer:
PHBA prioritizes making fair, safe, and fun teams for all players, which means we cannot guarantee fulfilling all of the many roster requests we receive. All roster requests, including division changes, are at the discretion of the Division Commissioner in conjunction with the Head Commissioner. You can find their contact information here.
All requests to play up in divisions Pioneer and older must attend Player Evaluation Day on Saturday, January 10, 2026 to thoughtfully consider the request.
WAITLIST
Question:
The division that I am trying to sign my child up is full. Is there a waitlist?
Answer:
As stated above, if the division you are trying to register for appears to be full, please fill this out to be added to the waitlist. The waitlist is first-come, first-served and registered players who will drop out will allow players on the waitlist to take their spot.
PRACTICE & GAME SCHEDULES
Question:
I am curious about what practice and game schedules look like so I can plan out my weekly schedule when the spring season is nearing to begin.
Answer:
For the Spring Season, practices start in February. Games start in March and go until late May/early June. Stable practice times are determined in late January, but are generally one weeknight and one Saturday per week, until games begin. Practice times (anywhere between 4 PM to 6 PM start time), weeknights, and fields (a full list of possible fields we use can be found on here) vary by division.
Once games begin, practices may end, being replaced by one weeknight and one Saturday game per week. Weeknight games begin at 5:30 PM. Weekday game nights and weekend game times are variable. Some coaches will have additional practices. Game schedules are released in late mid-February prior to Opening Day.
League Service Hours
Pleasant Hill Baseball Association is an all volunteer youth Baseball and Softball league. To encourage volunteer participation we require League Service Hours (LSHs). All families agree to pay a predetermined amount (penalty) if League Service Hours are not completed. That amount is separate from the annual registration fees, and additional payment is only necessary if the LSHs are not completed in full.
PHBA's League Service Hours program is comprised of two components. The first is team-oriented and has higher priority for volunteer fulfillment. This component covers team responsibilities (i.e., Managers/Coaches, Umpires, Team Coordinator, Scorekeeper, Field Prep, and Basket Coordinator). Completion of these team responsibilities at the end of the season constitutes satisfactory LSH completion. These responsibilities are NOT subject to the minimum 4-hour coverage of the activities making up the second component of the LSH program.
The second component of the LSH program is non-team-oriented. This LSH requirement covers all non-team related activities used to support PHBA during the season (i.e., Snack Shack, Opening Day, Photo Day, Banquet, Field Days, etc.). This component requires a commitment of minimum 4 hours per child (minimum of 8 hours for two or more children per family). Whichever component is chosen for completion of PHBA's LSH requirement, failure to complete the LSHs will result in an invoice for the full amount (penalty) to be sent to the delinquent volunteer. Payment will be required before registration in the following year.
Again, PHBA requires a lot of volunteer time for the league to be successful. This league would not have achieved the success it is noted for if not for its volunteers. Your time is more valuable to our players than your money. However, should you prefer not to volunteer, you may buy out your obligation for $500 per child, with a maximum of $1000 per family.
Failure to comply may result in additional consequences at the discretion of the PHBA board.
Scholarships
At PHBA we strive to ensure every kid has the opportunity to learn and grow their baseball and softball skills in a positive environment. Toward that goal, and with the help of sponsors' contributions, we created an avenue for families facing financial constraints to enroll their children in PHBA.
Scholarships are need-based, and applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If your family needs a scholarship for registration or has more questions, please contact Mark Cowell at mcowell@phba.org. Please note that due to scheduling constraints, all scholarship requests must be submitted no later than TBD.
League Age Charts 2026
In order to be consistent with other youth baseball leagues in the region and the State, the PHBA has adopted the age cutoff dates used by Little League and Pony baseball. The cutoff date is August 31, 2026 for baseball only.
For example, if your player was born on or before August 31 of 2016, they would play as a 10 year-old. If they were born on or after September 1 of 2016, they would play as a 9 year-old.
Please note - the softball age cutoff dates are based on the cutoff date of December 31, 2025.
